function that the clubs has. Bringing my family to be with my extended

How long

Average

Like
about riding?: in the last three years I have
learned that:
where I look there I will
go(especially where mud puddles are concerned), ice cream is
a basic food group and a good reason for a hundred mile
ride bugs taste bad and butterflies hurt, pig poop really
stinks as do most dead animals on the road, pot holes come
from the gremlins that fall out of those little bells you
can't buy for yourself, there are some really interesting
people under freeway bridges during thunderstorms, there are
many interesting ways to wear leather, gas and motor oil
smell better than Chanel, that stupid people in SUV's are
intimidated by women on motorcycles hollering at them, just
as each ride is a unique adventure so is each day, beware of
strange men outside restaurant windows, and that truly bad
hair is the sign of a good days ride.....
Why did
I join SCRC? well.....after I mastered parking lot
riding and ventured to Pittsboro for Snicker bars enough
times I felt the need to have companions on the road....I
asked around and went visiting clubs....A friend suggested
the Greater Raleigh group....and much to my surprise there
was Frankie on the web page....he gave y'all a good

Rides I

Like about riding?:
two fold
answer
1)I’ve met
some really wonderful friends and playmates
though biking. It’s great to feel a part of
a larger something. To be in a big, I mean
BIG line of bikes, with a group of BIG, BAD,
BIKERS, rumbling though rural small town
North Carolina rattling the town’s peoples’
window panes, and seeing the mothers scurry
about to gather up their small children and
hold them close while we cruise on past, and
then to laugh it up over cookies and milk
with this misfit group of rabble rousing
computer geeks, salesmen, and, generally
speaking, Quite friendly upper-middle-class
suburbia dwellers. For a ‘Casper
Milquetoast’ such as myself, this is a
really Big
Thrill.
2)Riding
down a twisty country road so heavily
canopied with trees that in spots the
temperature drops ten degrees and the
sunglasses that only moments ago I was so
glad to have remembered are now just a dark
intrusion to my fun, or when cruising though
farmland not too far from my house and
passing fields that seem to go on forever
just glowing with the baby green of new
growth, as if the ground itself was
celebrating its deliverance from the
temporary death of winter with an offering
of the most vivid colors it can possibly
produce - during these times I am overcome
with the Grace, and Love of God. In these
moments I am swept away bye the majesty
of his creation, and the ride becomes more
than just a casual past-time, it becomes a
visceral reminder of how big is our God,
how paltry my worries, and how much there is
to be thankful for.
Why did I
join SCRC?
I was so
lonely.
What does SCRC mean to me?:
. SCRC has
been a wonderful place to experience a
community/family type atmosphere, an
atmosphere albeit made up of widely varied
and slightly disturbed individuals. I was
very taken when first joining SCRC, this
being my first real foray into the world
motorcycling, with the civic mindedness of
the “biker” community. I’m proud of the
money we raise and the good that we do for
the towns and cities we live in.
Rides I
like the most:
The Red lawn
ride to Bracey, Liberty road and
circling Lake Royal
Dream trip:
I’ve heard
some wonderful stories about these trips
folks have taken up and down the eastern
portion of our fine country, but mostly I
just look forward to the time when I can
more fully share the biking experience with
my wife and sons

Anything else I'd like to say?:
Thank you to
my wife for her love and support, without
which I’d be a puddle of mush wearing badly
mismatched clothing, and whose generosity
allowed me to purchase my bike and enter the
world of professional week end bikers.
Hobbies/Other interest:
Restoring Muscle cars,
forever working on home projects with a growing need to

Type of Ride?
2002 VTX1800 (slightly altered from

Dream ride?:
2006 BMW R1200RT and Confederate
Hellcat
How long have I been riding?:
About 7 years if
you don't count the mini bike years of my youth.
Average Miles a Year: 5000-8000 miles a year is
average. However, work demands have squashed that a bit this
year as I have been riding the stress train as of late. Duty
calls and so Brutus sits unattended in the garage alot. I
must go and visit him tonight!!
Like about riding?:
I like the wind in my face
and to just go to a place
that I neva neva been to
another new open space
I like the sound of the motor
and not mashing the rotor
as I don't like to slow down
until its time for a soder (sorry bout that one)
Truthfully, I can say that I like all aspects of
riding. I enjoy the friends that I have made in our group as
well as the camaraderi that I see in everyone when we gather
for events, charities and general rding pleasure. I really
like the sense of self as I ride amongst the mountain peaks
of western NC and Tennessee. The majesty of God's creation
really becomes apparent as I travel through wide mountain
passes with views that extend so vast as to make me really
understand how I am but a an insignificant spec in the
wholeness of it all.
Why did I join SCRC?
To meet like minded people
and enjoy the times that we gather for events and rides.
What does SCRC mean to me?:
SCRS means to me a
means to meet and eat. Seriously though, I enjoy the times
that we spend together and the good deeds that we take part
in for people who have greater needs than ourselves and
being able to mix the goodness of heart with some exhaust
noise is a very fulfilling endeavor.
Rides I like the most:
Mountain runs, wide open
and little traveled roads that take us to places most cars
avoid. These are the peaceful, relaxing routes that make the
bike not only a good means of transportation but a dual
wheeled therapy machine.
Dream trip:
I have several. A three week tour of
the US through big sky country and then down the coast of
California and then crossing back through the southern
plains. One day I will do the Edelweiss Alps run..

Dream ride?:
I'm on it. I'm sure someday a
Nomad is in my future but I love
the ride on my current bike.
With a BMW 1150 or 1200 GS in
my garage I could do my dream
ride from Alaska to Tierra Del
Fuego but I am loving the rides
we do.
How long have I been riding?:
My first ride was my dad's Z50
zooming up and down the driveway
and around the yard at 8 years
old. I've never spent a year off
a bike since and have done
Motocross, Trials riding and
Dual Bikes but Ms.Meanie is my
biggest ride yet and I love it.
Average Miles a Year: Ms.
Meanie and I did about 10K last
year, the dual sport and I were
averaging about 9K a year before
that. Seems like a great idea
now that gas is triple from when
I bought my truck.
Like about riding?: The
feel of the open road, the
independence it offers, the feel
of a bike on the road and to be
honest the roar of my pipes.
Why did I join SCRC?
I was looking for a group of
people that just loved to ride
and I found it (oh yeah I like
the eating part too.....)
What does SCRC mean to me?: I
have found a group of friends
that automatically understand
each other, accept each other
and appreciate each other. It's
all about the trip, not the
bike, gear or what you do M-F.
It's a unique and special group.
Rides I like the most: In
NC there is not one single ride
that says "I am the best". We
have the mountains, oceans,
lakes and every twisty we can
find. Frank and some of the
other leaders have definitely
shown me some new roads I hadn't
found and to me finding new ways
to get to an old spot must rank
amongst those rides I like the
most. Of course new restaurants
are a huge plus....:-)
Dream trip:
Some day I'll ride from Prudoe
Bay Alaska to Tierra De Fuego and
I'll have done it
Favorite Quote?: "You
can never have a better past",
"Learn from yesterday, plan for
tomorrow but LIVE for today",
and of course as my girls always
remind me "It's all my
fault"....so now what are you
going to do????
Anything else I'd like to say?:
This is a great volunteer
group, we just need to remember
that and help each other to have
fun on our rides.
Hobbies/Other interest:
Motorcycling (natch), photography,
ferroequinology, and hanging out in
my hammock reading good sci - fi
Type of Ride? Green/green ’99
Kawasaki Nomad
Dream ride?: The same. (Ask Mark Kot)
How long have I been riding?:
Started at 18 on a 90cc Honda dream
(“you meet the nicest people on a
Honda”) Graduated to a 160cc Ducati
a few months later, Rode for a
living for 3 years as a motorcycle
messenger in NYC. (Like the pony
express without the horseshit.).
Sold my 550f four cylinder Honda in
1977. Re-entered about 6 years ago
with a 750 Shadow deluxe.
Average Miles a Year: about 5000+
Like about riding?: The zen of the
road. Being in the moment with the
feel, sights,smells, and sounds of
the ride pushing out all other
concerns. Instant friends with other
riders at any rest stop. Young kids
on porches and grandpas on lawn
tractors waving as you go by. And,
of course, the comraderie ,
connection, and sense of family with
all my SCRC buddies.
Why did I join SCRC? To share the
joys and experience of riding with
others.
What does SCRC mean to me?: A group
of good friends who accept each
other for who we are, joke about our
differences, and share the common
love of the ride. Feeling like I can
call on a member anywhere I go and
have instant family there, even if
we have never met before.(I’ve done
this).
Rides I like the most: Without a
doubt… the BRP.
Dream trip: Coast to coast…. out on
the TransCanadian Hwy, down 101, and
back on rte 66.
Favorite Quote?: “You can’t
straighten out a snake by pushing it

Anything else I'd like to say?:
Yeah….let’s stop talkin’ and ride

Nickname: Hmmm....now let's

but I will withhold a few. My SCRC
given name has been "Boop", as a

still today) I was "Shag Nasty" (that
came from playing in the coal pile),
but then my personal favorite for the
past 18 years has been "Mom".

Occupation: "shipper" for

Hobbies/Other interest: Quilting
is a passion, when I have time to
sew these days.....I will do more of that in
the winter when the weather is
too bad for a ride. I also enjoy
singing and sitting in a rocker on the
front porch overlooking a Mountain View!!!
Type of Ride? Yamaha V-Star 650
Classic the "Purple Passion"
Dream ride?: Hmmmm....I haven't really
been looking at many other
bikes, so I don't know what that would be
really. Except for my white Fat
Boy....which I have already had for the past
25 years. (Sam)
How long have I been riding?: 3 years
Average Miles a Year: I guess it
is 5,000. I know.... "pitiful"
I
just rolled over to 15,000.
Like about riding?: Solitude...no kids
in the back seat saying "mommy,
when are going to get there?" Oh
wait...that was Sam!! I enjoy the time
you have to think, to look, and to
experience a feeling that you just can't
experience in a car. Although it was a
challenge, I really enjoyed the
experience I had once riding in the rain and
fog on the Blue Ridge
Parkway. It's just something you won't
experience in the same way if you are in
a car. And not something I would want
to experience often. Same thing
for riding on the winding roads of the
country on a summer day.....and Oh
the smells you smell!!!! I guess there
are lots of things I enjoy about
riding. Like the people you meet on
bikes and those you meet who are just
interested.
Why did I join SCRC? Uhhh....because,
Sam did??
What does SCRC mean to me?: It
means a group of people who enjoy
riding and enjoy sharing the stories,
experience, knowledge and advice with
other fellow riders. I know I
can always find someone who is willing to go
for a ride or willing to help me become a
better and safer rider. It means a
fountain of knowledge and friendship.
Rides I like the most: Easy
going in the countryside! No hurry and
going nowhere in particular.
Dream trip: That would be to get up
and pack just the bare
necessities....o.k. maybe a little blush and
some mascara.....and just
take off in any direction. Stopping
when I get tired or see something
interesting. Having no particular
schedule or destination....(this
would push my comfort level, which is why it
is a dream!) and returning only
when I begin to miss home....heck, I might
make it all the way to
Burlington!!!
But another dream trip would be out West
where the roads go on and on
for days, flat with nothing but the distant
mountains in view.
Favorite Quote?: It would have
to be one that Sam's Father has
repeated on occasion, and I am not sure if
he was quoting someone else, or if it
came from his own wealth of wisdom.
But he would say: "About 90 percent of
the people you run into will think you are a
fool before you even speak, so
just don't open your mouth and prove them
right!"
Anything else I'd like to say?:
It has been my great pleasure to ride
among each of you and I learn from you every
ride I go on. I look
forward to going on more rides and creating
more stories to tell. I am still
in awe of the diversity of people in this
group, brought together by their one
common interest.....motorcycling. (Uh..and...eating!!)
I also know
that if I ever really need help, I know
exactly where I can go to find it.
Occupation: Procurement Supervisor at Talecris Biotherapeutics,
manufacturer of plasma drugs.

Type of Ride? 2005 Yamaha Roadstar
Dream ride?: I am on it, after the paint job is done
How long have I been riding?: 2 years in April
Average Miles a Year: Not enough! Got the Roadstar in July of 2005,
have put 7000 miles on it so far
Like about riding?: of course the Zen of riding fun & excitement and
being a member of a special group of people that share the same passion.
Why did I join SCRC? To hook up with a good bunch of people that like
to ride..... been a great decision so far.
What does SCRC mean to me?: SCRC supports motorcycling as a great past
time and promotes the image of Rides I like the most: The last one and
the next one.
Dream trip: Leave in early spring and ride through the southern states
to the west coast. Ride up the coast to Canada then ride across canada to
the Maritimes and back down. Stop for all the great sites along the way and
try all the cuisine specialties of the various regions and Of course with
Donna on the back

Dream ride?: Any big and beefy
two wheeler
How long have I been riding?:
almost 2 yrs, minus any cold, nasty weather days
Average Miles a Year: about
5,000 miles
Like about riding?: the cool
looks I get when stopped at an intersection and the feeling
of freedom on the open road…of course. Silly Mom, she knows
I can’t answer the phone while I’m riding.
Why did I join SCRC? I wanted
other people to ride with that actually go places…my
favorite was Cindy’s ride from Moe’s in Wake
Forest/Wakefield to the coffee shop.
What does SCRC mean to me?:
Southern Cruisers Riding Club No really…ummm….it means a
warm friendship of accepting individuals who have the same
interests…to not only share their woes and fixes for their
beloved bikes, but their joys and great rides. (Tony already
used “camaraderie”…I had to think of something else)
Rides I like the most: warm
ones, ones where I don’t fall (so far all have been
good…knock on wood). I like the rides that test my
abilities without scaring the crap out of me. I’ll have to
practice coming back from Mt Airy again…only not almost fly
off the mountain next time.
Dream trip: Honey in her black
skull cap and leathers on the back with the wind combing
through her gold locks of hair, tongue flailing in the wind
out of pure elation
Favorite Quote?: “Why do I
have to make my bed when I’m only going to mess it up by
sleeping in it tonight?” The author of this quote is not
known, however I used it almost on a daily basis growing up.
(and unfortunately occasionally now that I have my own place
when Mom & Dad come to visit)
Anything else I'd like to
say?: I’ll let you know when it comes to me…until then,
I’ll just listen. Oh wait! I have something…I hope this
Spotlight Questionnaire lives up to Cindy’s expectations as
she admitted that Becky’s was going to be hard to top. With
any luck, she will still let me follow her to the coffee
shop. Please, Cindy? Did I do well? Lastly, I will do my
best to provide world peace throughout my rein as Spotlight
Member.

What
does SCRC mean to me?: Friends
enjoying a great time together!!
Rides
I like the most: ALL!! I haven't
had a ride I didn't like--but some
are better than others! I don't
especially like hail and hurricane
force winds while riding!!
Dream

(temperature at least 80) through
Maine on up into Canada, along side
my special man, Wally. A
ride without any sharp
turns!!!(still learning to master
the tight turn)How long have I been

6 months
Favorite Quote?: "To thine own self

Anything else I'd like to say?:
being a member of SCRC is a

curving roads of NC.
How long have I been riding?: 28 years. My first bike was a
Honda CB 125T.
Average Miles a Year: 8000
Like about riding?: Freedom, Power, Fresh air, Great

Why did I join SCRC? A friend of mine from the South Raleigh
Chapter told me about it
What does SCRC mean to me?: A bunch of good friends who
share the same passion.
Rides I like the most: I enjoy all type of rides, from the
all day long ride in the back country to the short trip to
the mall.
Dream trip: Trip to the Rocky Montains.
Favorite Quote?: "It is better to keep your mouth shut and
appear to be stupid, than to open it and remove all doubt of
the fact"
Anything else I'd like to say?: Before coming to the USA 8
years ago, I used to ride my Honda 750 VFR 1993 every single
day, rain or shine, in France. I sold it just before I came
over here. When I decided to buy another bike 12 months ago
I then realized how much I missed it.
How long have I been riding?:My first ride was in 1973.
Sold the last one in '84. Took a long break, now I'm
back and lovin' it.Average Miles a Year: Around 5000
(so far)
Like about riding?: Being outdoors, no real deadline to
be somewhere, can't hear the phone.
Why did I join SCRC? Looking for other people to ride
with.
What does SCRC mean to me? A wonderfull group of riders
that accept newbies like family.:
Rides I like the most: All day rides to anywhere
Dream trip: Raleigh to
Colorado Springs and beyond.

has never tried anything new" Albert Einstien.
Anything else I'd like to say?: Nope
Name: Cindy Hodges (Our North Carolina State MRF representative)
Nickname: Fre
Age: 46
Occupation: Medical Transcriptionist
Hobbies/Other interest: Ohhhh the things I love that I've not had time to do much of.. hmm. Gardening. Learning about and working more with
stained glass. Reading. Helping to bring the motorcyclists of our nation together, all different types of people, all different types of
riding styles, to help educate each other about the needs of the motorcycling community and about what challenges face us legislatively
on the state and federal level - - also about things in regards to rider safety, education, and the education of non-riding motorists who need
to be more aware of us on the roads and share those roads with us, safely.
Type of Ride? 1993 Honda Shadow VLX 600
Dream ride?: Oh my. Is there ONE? My dream is to ride everything and have a garage full of as many as I can. Though I wouldn't turn my nose
up at a fully loaded, FULLY PAID FOR, 2007 roadglide with the black chrome package.. or a nice BMW. Heh.
How long have I been riding?: Not sure how to answer this one. Rode some as a kid, dirt bikes in the summer for a few years. Rode for
about a year and a half on my first bike, an old 1976 HD Superglide but it was not consistent riding as something was always wrong with that thing. I
have been a passenger, mostly on Harleys, mostly on shovelheads, for the better part of the past 26 years other than the year and a half I had
the superglide. I bought this VLX July 28, 2006 and in less than 4 months had put a little over 4000 miles on it so I'm off to a good
start.
Average Miles a Year: LOL! We shall see.
Like about riding?: There is no better way to see this country. With each mile, the problems of the day slide off my brain like sand being
blown by the wind. You can see, feel, and taste the world around you -- sometimes more than you want to if you do not learn to keep your mouth
closed. Nothing makes my soul sing like riding. For me, it is better to ask what I like about breathing. I love riding. Always have.
Why did I join SCRC? Ahhhhhhh. To be honest I never would have done it had it not been for my husband. I joined when we were doing the long
distance dating thing when I lived in Charlotte and he was here in Raleigh. Until then, the only folks I knew in Raleigh were the folks
from the Raleigh CBA chapter and CMA chapter that I have known over the years through my involvement in the bikers rights movement. I have
come to love my SCRC family. You folks have been there for us when Mike's mother died, you came to our wedding! You care about us and each
other. To be honest, since I have no children and I do work from home, SCRC is my only real outlet for socialization. I do not know what I
would have done without you folks. I wish I was able to be more available and could make closer friends, perhaps this summer!
What does SCRC mean to me?: People who care enough about their fellow man, who love riding so much, that they do not care if we are from
different social strata, other interests, or ideological backgrounds...just that we meet, eat, ride, and especially stay open-minded and
friendly towards one another. That's important and in short supply in this ol' world these days.
Rides I like the most: I should be embarrassed but the truth is I'm a member of a riding club who does not really like big group rides.
Never have. But I'm going to pay attention this year and hopefully be in town at the right times so I can join in more of the rides. Ask me this
question in a few months. For now, I will say the rides I like the most start about 9 a.m. and end about 4 p.m. and have nice long lunch stops,
end up at a motel, with a nice ride the next day.
Dream trip: To ride all over this nation whenever and where ever and for as long as I like. Also I'd like to ride in places like France,
Italy, England, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and parts of Asia too.
Favorite Quote?: "You never quit wrenching on your freedom, till you die", Karen Bolin.
Anything else I'd like to say?: I would like to thank my SCRC family for their support as I started riding again, for making me feel
comfortable. I would like to thank them for taking me seriously or hiding it if they do not, when I go on about our rights, legislation,
and governmental regulatory agencies. I know it can be obnoxious but I feel so strongly about some of these things, thank you for listening
and thank you also to those of you who joined in the fight. I also want to thank those of you who have participated in the History Tours and thank
Frank for mentioning them in his letters to us. And to those of you who I have opened my heart to and shared some of my personal pain at times,
thank you so much for being there. I do love my SCRC family. Lastly, but most importantly, I thank God for giving me friends and trying to
keep me on the right path. I know I'm a struggle for Him <grin>.

Dream ride?:If you can
believe it, a custom built
Harley! See attached
photo. I made a rocking
horse for my niece when she
was a couple years old. When
my brother had a son, I
decided to try a new
challenge, a Rocking
Harley. It took quite a
while to build it and cost
more to ship it to
California than the
materials to make it. What
makes it a dream ride is
that my nephew really used
it and my brother sent me an
email months later saying
that he thought that I would
like to know that my nephew
Joey still hugged the Harley
and said "I love you
motorcycle". I could never
top that.
How long have I been
riding?: 2.5 years
Average Miles a Year:
7-10,000
Like about riding?: I like
the freedom, the feel of
control over my own destiny,
the SCRC group rides, and
the friends that I've made
since I started riding.
Why did I join SCRC? I work
with Charla Parker and when
she heard that I was
thinking about learning to
ride, she kept reminding me
about the club. When I was
starting to look for a
beginner bike, she put me in
touch with Rick Carnagey
because he rode the type of
bike that I was interested
in. Rick made several trips
to look at used bikes with
me. I appreciated that help
and from that point on, I
knew that the SCRC was going
to be a great group of
people to be associated
with.
What does SCRC mean to me?:
A group of great people who
accept you for who you are
and don't care what you
ride. I've made some great
friends in the Greater
Raleigh chapter and cannot
thing of a better group of
people to be associated
with. I also like the fact
that safety is a primary
concern for club rides. I
don't want to end up a
statistic so this is very
important to me.
Rides I like the most:
Franks day ride to Peaks of
Otter for brunch and back,
Chasing Mark Kot on the Tour
de Kot, All Frank rides, and
any ride that ends up with a
gracious stay at OaK
Mountain! Roy's "Ben &
Jerry's" ride to Vermont was
incredible. I enjoyed that
ride so much.
Dream trip: I hope to be
able to do a cross country
ride some day to see the
country from a different
perspective... on 2 wheels!

Anything else I'd like to

the Greater Raleigh SCRC
Chapter has been one of the
best things that I've ever

friends and had more fun in
the last couple years than I
have in a very long time.
Thank you my friends! Let's

How long have I been riding?: First started

Average Miles a Year: 8000
Like about riding?: Mentally relaxing -
break from work, exploring new areas
Why did I join SCRC? Local group to share
the ride and learn new areas
What does SCRC mean to me?: Building
friendships and of course Riding!
Rides I like the most: Choices, Choices;
probably Hanging Rock/Mt Airy via
Moorespring Rd & 66
Dream trip:
Grand Canyon
Favorite Quote?:Seek justice, love mercy,
and walk humbly with your God
Anything else I'd like to say?: When Kelley
and I first joined SCRC, it seemed like a
small group. Of course it was the dead of
Winter and only a few hard core folks
routinely showed up. It has sure grown with
new faces and new leadership with many folks
stepping up to lead new rides.

Dream ride?: You mean without

How long have I been riding?:
since June of 2001. Bought my
bike with 3600 miles on it and
it now reads 78,000.
Average Miles a Year:
approximately 18,000
Like about riding?: Lots to
like; the feeling of freedom,
exposure to the elements (not
the periodic table type), the
people I meet, laugh and ride
with, the smells I encounter
along the way...except for the
time I got behind that poultry
truck on I-40.....WHEW!
Why did I join SCRC? I wanted to
meet other people that rode.
When I started riding I wanted
to experience it all (making up
for lost time I guess) and rode
through the winters and the
rain. Group riding was an
interest as well, and not being
a hardcore kinda dude who needed
lots of rules and guidelines
like the M/C's, the SCRC
offered me the chance to ride
with others without all that
silly stuff.
What does SCRC mean to me?: With
little free time on my hands
between work and homelife, I
find that I don't have many
friends to chat with, go visit
or do things with. SCRC provides
me the friends that accept me
for who I am without question.
SCRC provides me the opportunity
to go places and to chat with
friends on-line in a forum or
should I choose to do so, on the
phone. I belong to other groups
involving bikes and classic
trucks, but it's mostly all on
the computer so SCRC provides me
the faces that I can truly call
my friends. I know this Chapter
will stand behind me if I ever
have a need.
Rides I like the most: Those on
the bike.
Dream trip: I've two. I want to
ride out West to the Rockies and
tool around Utah,
Nevada, etc. I also want
to ride up to
Nova Scotia and PEI.
Favorite Quote?: There have been
lots of good ones that have
crossed my path, unfortunately
I'm old and can't remember any
of them!
Anything else I'd like to say?:
I've enjoyed being a member of
this group even though I don't
get to participate as much as I
would like to. I appreciate all
the friendships I've made and
the laughs I've had with you.
Thanks for putting up with me.
I've
had a few nicknames. The one that stuck with me the
longest was "Bones". Nice huh? Was created by my first
husband.......back then I was a bone rack. Haven't been
called that in a long, long, long time. I'm sure the
bones are still there....somewhere!
My Mom
and some of my other family members call me Hali! >>>>>>>
I HAD IT FIRST!!!
AGE.... 52
I'm a
Realtor.....Anyone need a gr..... :) Next....
Love
to ride horses, love fast boats (used to water ski a
lot)...I like to make things and be creative. I
love being with my kids (1 daughter and 2 sons) and my 2
Grand-daughters!!!!!(and my Pug of course!)
I recently got a Honda 96, Pacific Coast 800...after
riding my 250 Nighthawk since 1991, My PC is my dream
bike!
I started riding when I was about 12. Skipped a few
years cause of having kids (occasional trips to the
supermarket) . I started riding a lot more this past
summer since I got my PC and I have an empty nest :( .
I plan to put a lot of miles on from now on.
Riding
clears my brain out. (no comments please) . It really
lets me breath. Love to feel the sun and the breeze.
Takes me out of reality and reminds me how beautiful
the world can be.
I joined SCRC because I like good people and socializing
with people who understand how amazing riding is. SCRC
excepts whoever you are, where you're from and whatever
you ride! I'm still kinda new to the group, but it's
obvious that the members care about each other and
always help each other when help is needed.
So far my favorite rides are day rides at a nice steady
pace, that lets me enjoy the scenery etc....but I dream
of a long trip to see all the
beautiful
places in our country. Traveling with good
friends that I trust and who aren't in a hurry.
Camping ( with bathrooms and showers, of course) and
sitting around the camp fire roasting marshmallows just
chillin with my friends.
SORRY...I got carried away!
....my favorite quote is from a song by Jewel'...."In
the end only kindness matters".
Ever since
I can remember; whenever I get on my bike, the song from
the old movie "Along Came Bronson" gets stuck in my head
>>>"Goin down that long lonesome highway;;;; Going to
live my life my way". Somebody has to know that song
right? You know, think it's
Peter
Fonda riding a Harley.........Thank goodness my
new bike has a radio cause now I don't have to sing that
same verse over and over!!!! (the only words I ever
knew).
Dream ride?: Riding
in the NH mountains on a nice sunny
day.
How long have I been
riding?: Not long - I passed the BRC
and got my license, but don't feel
comfortable driving the motorcycle. I
feel I'm a better passenger for
taking the class though.
Average Miles a Year:
Don't know yet.
Like about riding?:
Being free
Why did I join SCRC?
Mike introduced me to it and I liked
the folks
What does SCRC mean
to me?:
Commaraderie - even if I don't drive
and have my own bike.Everyone's different and
everyone is accepted.
Rides I like the
most:I like
riding around the lake, there's a
lot of scenery there.
Dream trip: Maybe
taking a leisurely drive down the

Anything else I'd
like to say?: Thanks to all the SCRC
Members who have made me feel
welcome.

Working in the Yard
Type of Ride? BMW R1100RS
Dream ride?: hmmm, I think I have
it! (Thank you honey!)
How long have I been riding?: 10
years
Average Miles a Year: not enough the
last few years, but I am hoping that
will change this year.
Like about riding?: Freedom of the
open road, control of the bike and
most importantly sharing fun trips
with great friends.
Why did I join SCRC? I had just
moved to Raleigh, and wanted to meet
new people who liked to ride, and
had other similar interest as
myself.
What does SCRC mean to me?:
Friendships mostly. There are some
great folks in this group. It also
holds a special place in my heart
because SCRC is where I met my sweet
husband, Tony.
Rides I like the most: Love riding
in the mountains and up and down the
coast.
Dream trip: I’d love to travel out
west. Tony and I have also talked
about doing an Edelweiss Alps tour
which would be a blast.
Favorite Quote?: “Slow down and
enjoy life. It's not only the
scenery you miss by going too fast -
you also miss the sense of where you
are going and why.
Anything else I'd like to say?: This
is a great group, and I’m happy to
be a part of it.
