Member Spotlight: Frank & Becky Pennucci 2013

Frank and Becky

Name:

Frank & Becky Pennucci

Nickname:

Skootch, Becky Sue

Age:

I'm old as dirt, while she is perpetually young.

Occupation:

I'm an Estimator, Becky is a Nurse.

Hobbies/Other interests:

I like reading, and photography, while Becky likes to "bead" and read.

Type of Ride:

a pair of 2005's. She rides an '05 Honda Shadow Sabre (nicknamed "Joe") and I have an '05 H-D "Road Glide" (nicknamed "the Golden Turd")

Dream ride:

I'd love to spend a summer (or more) touring this country. So much to see, and so little time to be irresponsible.

How long have you been riding?:

I started in the mid-70's took some time off. Becky started in 2002.

Average Miles a Year:

I average 15k or so, while Becky rides about 4k

What do you like about riding?:

In a car... it's pretty much like watching television... but on a bike, you are THERE... part of the experience. You feel the weather, smell nature, sometimes a good thing, other times not so much.

Why did you join the SCRC?:

I had moved to NC, and didn't really know anyone to ride with... to show me the roads... little did I know, but I wound up being the one to show others the "good roads".
Becky started riding, and a friend's husband told her of SCRC. She tried different chapters before GR, but they weren't her "ideal"... then she recognized me on the old web page... and the rest, as they say... is history.

What does SCRC mean to you?:

Good friends. Riding with people who care... care about you, and your safety, but also your family. I've always loved the thought that members felt good about bringing their children along.

Rides I like the most:

The Vermont "Ice Cream ride" will always be tops... but so is the BRP "end to end" ride. I hope the "best" is yet to come.

Dream trip:

A trip to Becky's "home" in Minnesota, and across the mid-west. Another (longer) BRP ride... a week in West Virginia, a return to central Pennsylvania (Frank).

Anything else you'd like to say?:

I'm very pleased with Greater Raleigh chapter. The people I've met, the people who have invited me into their home... the people I have invited in my home.
We've danced at weddings, we've cried at funerals... we've welcomed babies into the world. We are a family... in the best way.
