Weekly Update

Monday, August 5, 2013

Not much happening this week. Spent most of the week working and getting my daughter settled in her new job.

Thanks to the members who responded to last week's update and let me know that you are reading and getting some benefit from these weekly updates. I know we have a solid "core" of members. It would be nice to hear from the other 50 or so on our roster who never or seldom attend as to what we can do for them.

If you ARE a new member, let me know what you are looking for in the club. What kind of rides. Weekday. Weekend. Short. Long. Multiday. Camping. Visit somewhere (ie ride to and spend time at).

A good way to introduce yourself to the group is to attend a couple of bike nights. Another way is to post your profile.

On this note (segway), Bonnie would like to, AGAIN, ask members to send her their profiles with or without a picture for our monthly members spotlight. This is a good introduction for new members and a way of older/veteran members to update their prifiles and introduce themselves to the newbies. You can dl the form as either .doc or .rtf from here: scrcraleigh.com/members/questions/

This last week

Bike night at Weinberg's deli: (from Cindy Hodges) Last Friday saw me & Mike, Frank, Tim & Denise, Doug & his two young daughters, & Steve Burton came to say Hi as we were about to leave.

The food was good, the service was not so great but she was a smiling teenager - no harm no foul.

The conversations centered around jobs and the lack thereof, and going back to school. Doug had a family reunion over the weekend, everyone else had honey-do things. No rides planned but we did stop and smile over Larry and Kevin both managing to cut out on their own separate jaunts.

After dinner, Mike & I followed Tim & Denise over to Bruster's on Durant where everyone but me enjoyed ice cream. I taught the teenage girl in Subway how to operate the Keurig machine & had coffee!

It was great riding weather. We took Durant to Louisburg Rd to Mitchell Mill and beyond as we tooled on home, happy to have gotten out and seen friendly faces.

Weekend local ride (from Frank) Lindy took me up on my offer. We were the only two at HH at the appointed hour, so without fanfare we took off for a nice little ride to Circle City.

As we arrived she announced she would bail and go on. We said our good byes she took off, and I walked around and gawked at the bikes.

Not a lot going on, I did nave a nice chat with a few Ducati riders, and then I was back on the road. I started off for Asheboro, to scout out the new location for Juggtown, but turned off to meet with Five Points at the Pik n Pig.

They arrived a few minutes after I did, and we sat down for a nice lunch before heading in our separate directions.

I did a lot of "aimless" looping enjoying the fair weather.

Check out the Chapter Forum or the Yahoo group from time to time to keep updated on current events and club news.

If you see an event you want to attend, and you think it might be fun to attend said event, with fellow riders... Please post something on either Yahoo, or Delphi forums. If I see it in time, I'll cross post on the other. The forums are great ways for YOU... to get to know your fellow members, and with luck, get someone to ride along.
