Occasionally, but not quite, WEEKLY UPDATE

Wednesday, August 16, 2015

Off week for me.... woke up middle of the night last Monday with knee pain.... no riding for me... but I am on the mend.

This Week's Events

Mike Greenham asked me to pass along a note about supporting the Fallen Fire Ride. I have not heard back from anyone... hopefully folks went out and supported this noble cause.
Larry Nunnery dropped me a line about HIS ride, from the previous week: We met at Handy Hugo @ Leesville & 540, KSU at 1:30 PM. A sparse crowd showed up. We took an easy breezy 80 mile loop on some country roads in northern Durham County ending at an ice cream eatery. I enjoyed it, including our ice cream at the end.

Upcoming Chapter Events

August 23 Chapter ride to Asheboro for lunch. Meet at Citgo corner of Leesville & Norwood roads (turn north off I-540, trying to avoid as much of the construction confusion as possible) 10 AM... KSU 10:15
Head out past Chapel thrill, then out Old Liberty Road. Lunch spot TBD.
Return home either OLR, or a leisurely loop through the country.

September 4 (Friday) Bike Night at Village Deli South Main Street Wake Forest
September 13 (Sunday) Lunch ride to Robinson's Ferry Warrenton
September 27 (Sunday) Lunch ride TBD

North Carolina Events

Fall Gathering at Two Rivers Lodge in Bryson City NC. Joel in leaving on Thursday 9/10/15 in order to enjoy the Great Smokey Mountain Train Ride. There will be ample time to cruise the Dragon, Cherahola etc., on Saturday.

Other Events

There are several events coming up in other state, including the National SCRC Rally... information can be gotten at the national forum on Delphi.
Ray-Fest downtown Raleigh... usually folks just go about their own way going and coming, but if there is interest we can arrange something.
Wilson NC has replaced the traditional "Tobacco Fest" with a Whirly-gigg fest... celebrating the works of local artist Vollis Simpson. I will likely lead a ride there.
Yoders Dutch Pantry in Vanceboro is closed on Sunday... so we will swap out a Sunday, for a Saturday. It is a 2 plus hour ride east, I'd like to hold off for cooler weather, which would make the ride more enjoyable.

There are plenty of time slots open if you would like to step up and suggest an even/ride... or better yet lead one.

Communications: Emails WILL continue on a weekly basis... but what about the Chapter website? the chapter Delphi forum? the chapter Yahoo forum? do you read any of them? How often? Are you on Face book? should we re-visit having a Greater Raleigh FB page?

Ride safe... Ride often
Frank
