Occasionally, but not quite, WEEKLY UPDATE

Wednesday, August 2, 2015

Big week.... lots of news...
Joel has stepped down as FO of the chapter... kudos and thanks for 3 years of service to the club, and this chapter.

Upcoming Events

Bike nights... until we get a handle on things... Only the Village Deli in Wake Forest will remain on the calendar (First Friday). City BBQ in Cary, while delicious, didn't seem to be very popular... (maybe the one in Garner??) so... the task is up to YOU, where would you like to meet on Fridays?

Mike Hodges, and Kevin Gonyea, have both expressed a preference for Sunday rides. At this time, I'd like to reserve the second and fourth Sunday as chapter rides. Some places are not open on Sunday, and may/will cause a day change, but for NOW... lets us try this schedule.

Which brings me to the next point of order. WHERE would you like to go? Clarksville VA, Saxaphaw NC are "stand-bys" with good roads, good food, and many options for routes. If there is someplace you'd like to go, or a local fest, you'd like to attend. Please feel free to make a suggestion.

Chapter Events

Friday August 7 Bike Night at Village Deli South Main St Wake Forest. 7 PM till we get bored, or they toss us out.

Sunday August 9 Chapter ride to Clarksville VA, (I promise to take a different route than last time). Meet at the Bayleaf Marathon (six forks & six forks...2.5 miles north of I-540 exit 11) @ 10 AM KSU 10:15

Sunday August 23 Chapter ride TBA

SCRC-NC Events

Fall gathering in Bryson City NC held at Two Rivers Lodge http://www.tworiverslodgenc.com/ Great hosts and smack dab in the middle of America's best roads for a motorcycle. Joel & Bonnie and others are rolling out on Thursday 9/10/15, and spending Friday riding the rails with the "Great Smokey Mountain Railway" Saturday there will be rides heading out, or you could cruise along by yourself, or in small groups.

Other Local Chapter Events

At this time, I do not have any data to share... but stay tuned. Five Points (Fuquay-Varina) Jordan Lake (Pittsboro-Sanford) Tar River (Youngsville and north) Cape Fear (Fayetteville) and others often ride, when I hear of a ride... I will pass that info along.

I cannot stress this enough... for this, or ANY club/chapter to thrive, we the members, must step up... whether offering to lead, or simply suggesting an event, or restaurant, historic site (NC is lousy with history... pick an era), Cultural event etc... speak up.
