Occasionally, but not quite, WEEKLY UPDATE

Sunday, December 27, 2015

I hope everyone had a good holiday... Christmas at my house was a 3 day family fun-fest.

Weather hasn't been great for riding... I don't mind mid-70's in December... when it's dry... but every time I started to roll the "turd" from the garage it began to pour. Rain has affected my on-going yard project as well... sometimes I just can't get ahead. But I've still sneaked a few miles in somehow.

Sunday 12/20 Steve and I eased down to Ray Price HD to pay our respects to a man who had given a lot to the community.

Saturday 12/26 I rode over to Lumpy's Ice Cream in Wake Forest, and supported their 2nd annual Diaper Run, then eased my way to Pik-N-Pig in Carthage and had lunch with SCRC members from FP#216 & JoCo #222. Libby Mack and myself tightened up the plan for New Years Day.

Anyone interested in taking on a chapter "leadership role" (ie: Road Captain, Tail Gunner, Ride Leader, Safety Officer, Second Officer, or even First Officer)

If you want to step up go to www.southerncruisers.net/constitution.htm and read what SCRC national expects from officers (and members).

Then read the ride guidelines... www.southerncruisers.net/newriding.htm. They aren't "rules" but guides, but it does explain the role of ride leader better.

Finally, there is the "code of conduct": www.southerncruisers.net/coc.htm

"Road Captain/ride leader" is a good place to start... but you don't have to be a "Road Captain" to lead a ride. Just be willing to step up... You WILL miss a turn... and do a U-turn... everyone does... it's part of the "fun" and who knows... it could lead to a funny "road name".
