Not quite WEEKLY UPDATE

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

I love this roller coaster weather. It's worth the cold to have the spring for a day spells. Get out and ride on these days if you can. It's what gets me through the winter each year.

Start giving some thought, if you haven't already, on doing those winter bike projects before the good spring weather arrives. And start thinking about how you will ride prepare your bike if you winterized it and didn't ride all winter. I know we still have a couple of months before spring thaw, but time passes quickly.

Thanks to Libby, FO Five Points Chapter, we are making plans to improve communications between chapters so members will have the information and opportunity to join in on other chapter rides and events. More to come on this.

Welcome to our new members, Jonathan McEntire, who rides a Honda VTX 1100 Tourer, and Jerry Atkinson, who rides a Harley Ultra Classic. Both joined us for our Spring in February ride to Saxapahaw last Sunday.

I also just realized, I may have forgotton to include another new member, Stewart Ginsburg in previous updates. If I did, apologies Stewart. Stewart rides a Harley FLHTCI POE and lives in Fuquay. It was unclear whether Stewart was going to transfer to Five Points chapter, but I will leave him on our roster until he is moved or lets us know. Welcome all.

Ride safe,
Joel "Doc" Kann

Chapter Rides

Sunday, 2/8/2015 Saxapahaw General Store
72 degrees, sunshine and Tar Heel Blue skies in February. What's not to like.

Met up with Frank at the Citgo on 64 and Jenks Rd in Apex. We were soon joined by Mike Hodges and new member Jonathan McEntire, who brought a friend, Jerry Atkinson. A 60 mile ride twisting down the south tip of Jordan Lake and through the New Hill Railroad yard, back up the western edge of the lake, past the NC Tiger Rescue Foundation, and into Pittsboro. Pit Stop (yes, I did it), then up 87 and back roads into Saxapahaw.

Big crowd, including about 20 bikes. Took a while to get the food, but we expected this. This allowed lots of time to laugh and jaw and express our opinion on just about everything.

Then off again on a more northern route home.

As a result of the ride, Jerry has joined our group.

We all had a good days ride. Hope you all enjoyed yours.
