This weeks events

Mike H, reports he supported the CBA on their annual "Spooker Run" I told him to let me know next time, and I will help spread the word... that goes for you too... you never know folks might decide to support an event, if you let them know about it.

Sunday 4/10 Mike H and Steve joined me at Handy Hugo. Given the cool temps, we stood around chatting about trees, fire wood, snakes and yes, motorcycles. Things warmed up nicely, and we rolled out a bit late, but we traded time for warmth, and today... it was a good trade. Lystra Road, is still closed, so we looped even further north through rolling countryside just beginning to fully blossom. Beautiful, if chilly day... but as we all had our gerbings, there was no discomfort. We arrived in downtown Liberty, around 11:30 and the local back clock showed 59 degrees. A brief, and much needed bio-break in Liberty, and we hit OLR. 20 miles/30 minutes later we were seated in C.J.'s. Lunch was great, but once again, we were unable to partake in their delicious dessert selections. Return trip via OLR, with a little modification, then on to Silk Hope, and Pittsboro for our break, then on US-64 to NC-751, and then more back roads. Just a good day to ride, air was clear, pollen low, everything turning green, except for rhododendrons, and dogwoods.

Anyone interested in taking on a chapter "leadership role" (ie: Road Captain, Tail Gunner, Ride Leader, Safety Officer, Second Officer, or even First Officer)

If you want to step up go to www.southerncruisers.net/constitution.htm and read what SCRC national expects from officers (and members).

Then read the ride guidelines... www.southerncruisers.net/newriding.htm. They aren't "rules" but guides, but it does explain the role of ride leader better.

Finally, there is the "code of conduct": www.southerncruisers.net/coc.htm

"Road Captain/ride leader" is a good place to start... but you don't have to be a "Road Captain" to lead a ride. Just be willing to step up... You WILL miss a turn... and do a U-turn... everyone does... it's part of the "fun" and who knows... it could lead to a funny "road name".
