Occasionally, but not quite, WEEKLY UPDATE

January 30, 2016 (Saturday)

Just to let everyone know we now have a new discount code with all Motel 6 locations and our new code is RYKEBR and is good at all Motel 6 locations afforded to the Southern Cruisers Riding Club.

The weather roller coaster that is a Raleigh Winter continues. Mike H and I were the only ones willing to brave the weather, We stood around a while chatting about life etc, while drinking hot cocca and waiting for stragglers. We eased out along dry, and snow free roads taking in all the countryside could offer. Stem, Shoofly, Culbreth, Providence, and such.and arrived at George's, in Oxford. A long leisurely lunch, and then back on the road. By this time the sun had warmed up nicely, and we took yet another long way route back to home. A short day, but any day on 2 wheels beats a day in front of the tube.

Normally, I'd post a "Stupor Bowl day ride, but with the rescheduling of the Frostbite ride, I will be home doing some "honey-do".

Anyone interested in taking on a chapter "leadership role" (ie: Road Captain, Tail Gunner, Ride Leader, Safety Officer, Second Officer, or even First Officer)

If you want to step up go to www.southerncruisers.net/constitution.htm and read what SCRC national expects from officers (and members).

Then read the ride guidelines... www.southerncruisers.net/newriding.htm. They aren't "rules" but guides, but it does explain the role of ride leader better.

Finally, there is the "code of conduct": www.southerncruisers.net/coc.htm

"Road Captain/ride leader" is a good place to start... but you don't have to be a "Road Captain" to lead a ride. Just be willing to step up... You WILL miss a turn... and do a U-turn... everyone does... it's part of the "fun" and who knows... it could lead to a funny "road name".
