This weeks events

Saturday, Joel, Bonnie, Steve and I enjoyed a fun-filled ride up to Clarksville. As the crowd was manageable (in size, not necessarily in behavior) we opted for the Lake House. Always good food, and as the "monthly flea market" was in full swing, they were prompt, as well as friendly. As expected, there was the usual joke telling, and re-capping of many rides. On the return trip... we decided to follow USBR1, the first "high water area" allowed us to imitate jet skis...the second "HWA" was not even wet... the third one however was Nutbush Crossing, and there was no point in trying that spot, so we turned around, and looped further south. As always 2 wheeled days are the best, and when riding with good friends, there isn't anything better... but you knew that, or you would never have joined the chapter.

Sunday, was Mother's Day... I hope everyone was able to enjoy that day, in their own way.

Ride safe... Ride often

Anyone interested in taking on a chapter "leadership role" (ie: Road Captain, Tail Gunner, Ride Leader, Safety Officer, Second Officer, or even First Officer)

If you want to step up go to www.southerncruisers.net/constitution.htm and read what SCRC national expects from officers (and members).

Then read the ride guidelines... www.southerncruisers.net/newriding.htm. They aren't "rules" but guides, but it does explain the role of ride leader better.

Finally, there is the "code of conduct": www.southerncruisers.net/coc.htm

"Road Captain/ride leader" is a good place to start... but you don't have to be a "Road Captain" to lead a ride. Just be willing to step up... You WILL miss a turn... and do a U-turn... everyone does... it's part of the "fun" and who knows... it could lead to a funny "road name".
